When I decided to open my own law practice in April 2023, I had many options for what to name it. As a Latina attorney, I could have easily used my last names for the firm. As a matter of fact, some people recommended it. It would have resonated with the Latino community that is so often in need of honest, empathetic, ethical, and responsible legal representation.
But I wanted the name of my practice to convey something deeper—something that reflected why I chose immigration law in the first place: a field where I could have a direct and meaningful impact on people’s lives.
That is where the greek concept Kairos comes in.
The word kairos refers to a “perfect moment” or the right timing for something meaningful to happen. And in immigration law, as in life, timing can truly be everything. There is something powerful that happens when you meet a client at exactly the right moment in their journey—when the law, their circumstances, and the opportunity to build a life in this country finally align.
I genuinely believe there is a kind of kairos in those interactions.
That is how Kairos Law, PLLC in Austin, TX was born—out of a perfect moment in my own professional and personal life that gave me the opportunity to build a practice from the ground up. A practice nurtured with love, dedication, honesty, empathy, and compassion for the people and families who trust me with such important chapters of their lives.
